The Adipo-Cible consortium, established within University Côte d’Azur, was designated a “structuring project” in November 2023 by the Excellence Initiative (IdEx) program UCAJEDI. Adipo-Cible is a multidisciplinary research group offering a cross-disciplinary research environment aimed at advancing understanding of the mechanisms driving obesity and its metabolic complications, as well as improving the management of these conditions. It brings together 21 research teams from institutes affiliated with the University Côte d’Azur, clinical services at the University Hospitals of Nice and Marseille, and a start-up.

The Adipo-Cible consortium is seeking a post-doctoral researcher to study the intricate relationship between osteoarthritis and adipose tissue with Pr Christian H. Roux and in collaboration with the relevant Adipo-Cible’s labs. Using state-of-the-art techniques such as flow cytometry, histology, and bioinformatics, the project aims at comparing the adipose tissue characteristics, with a focus on immune cell populations, in human and animal models of osteoarthritis combined with obesity and/or diabetes. Therefore, the consortium invites early-career researchers interested in pursuing their careers in a cross- and multidisciplinary environment to apply for a postdoctoral fellowship through the IdEx Program at the University Côte d'Azur.

Interested candidates should contact Pr Roux to discuss and design a detailed project. Pr Roux will support their application and oversee their integration. Candidates will need to provide him with the finalized research project, a CV, and the contact details of three referees. Pr Roux will then write a letter of support, collect recommendation letters, secure approval from the unit director, and submit the candidate’s application. The application will be evaluated by the IdEx committee.

Key selection criteria include: Candidate’s scientific excellence and relevance of the proposed research project. Applicants must have completed their PhD within the last four (4) years at the time of submission and should have pursued both their PhD and postdoctoral work outside of a laboratory affiliated with the University Côte d'Azur.
