Institute of Systems Medicine, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences /Suzhou Institute of Systems Medicine (ISM) is located in Suzhou Dushu Lake Science & Education Innovation Zone, adjacent to the BioBay. It is a national medical research institution jointly established by Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences & Peking Union Medical College (CAMS&PUMC), Jiangsu Province, Suzhou City and Suzhou Industrial Park.

ISM focuses on the major scientific problems in the field of systems medicine, focusing on the occurrence and development mechanism of major diseases and the prevention and treatment of key bottlenecks, focusing on the construction of two National Key Laboratory “Immunity and Inflammation” and “Common Mechanism Research for Major Diseases”, also exploring new organizational models, innovative paradigms and management mechanisms, furthermore focusing on developing cutting-edge technologies such as cell therapy, gene editing, big data science and artificial intelligence, and life omics, striving to build a world-class scientific research institution with Chinese characteristics and Suzhou advantages, utilizing complementary foundation and transformation, leading operation mechanism, innovative system and talent team.

In April 2021, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences & Peking Union Medical College (CAMS&PUMC) signed a comprehensive strategic cooperation agreement with City of Suzhou and Suzhou Industrial Park(SIP) to jointly build a "Suzhou base for the core base of the national medical science and technology innovation system". As a supporting unit ISM is planned to complete the construction of 80,000 square meters of new sites in 2026, gathering a group of high-level talents with innovative and strategic thinking to create an innovation and entrepreneurship highland for systems medicine.ISM’s talent work fully connects to the Tenure Track System, and we sincerely welcome talents all over the world to join us for challenges, and to create great achievements.
