The Tang Research Group in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Florida (UF) in Gainesville, FL is seeking applicants for two Postdoctoral Associate positions in chemistry or biology. Additionally, multiple PhD student positions are available.

The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Dr. Feng Tang (https://www.chem.ufl.edu/about-all/directory/name/feng-tang/), focusing on leveraging mass spectrometry and next-gen sequencing techniques to study how DNA damage induced by environmental exposure and endogenous metabolism contribute to cancer and aging related diseases. This one-year appointment is renewable based on performance.

Successful candidates shall have strong skillset in following ares: molecular/cell biology, (chemo)proteomics, synthetic chemistry, bioinformatics, sequencing, etc. The role includes conducting research, producing publications, contributing to grant writing and progress reports, and mentoring junior lab staff. 

Dr. Feng Tang is a recipient of the K99/R00 Pathway to Independence Award, and the research group is well-funded and plans to acquire a new Orbitrap for proteomics research. Tang lab is committed to fostering an environment of mutual respect and open communication and will actively support the career development of PhD students and postdocs who join the group. Postdocs and students will have the opportunity to receive interdisciplinary training in proteomics, chemical biology, synthetic chemistry, molecular biology, and bioinformatics. Our research is interdisciplinary, and we look for members from diverse backgrounds.

Minimum requirements:

  • Ph.D. in Chemistry/Biology.
  • The successful candidate should have a strong background in molecular/cell biology, (chemo)proteomics, synthetic chemistry, bioinformatics, sequencing etc.
  • A strong track record of publications would be an asset. 
  • Strong work ethic, motivation to lead and drive projects independently.
