The Hayman Lab, led by Thomas Hayman, MD, PhD, in the Department of Therapeutic Radiology at Yale University is recruiting a highly motivated and creative postdoctoral fellow. We are a cancer biology lab that is focused on utilizing genetic approaches to understand and exploit resistance mechanisms to DNA damage.

Our research program has a particular interest in studying the interplay between the cell intrinsic immune machinery and DNA damage and repair processes using in vitro cell models, genetic screens (such as CRISPR and RNA interference), and animal models. We have a strong translational focus that is founded in a preclinical mechanistic understanding of basic biological processes with the ultimate goal of shaping these discoveries into therapeutic strategies for cancer patients.

We are seeking a candidate who will contribute to the discovery and translation of biological processes that modulate tumor responses to DNA damaging therapies (e.g. radiation) and immunotherapy. Interested applicants should hold a PhD., M.D., or M.D./Ph.D. with considerable laboratory experience and a strong background in cancer biology, molecular biology, genetics, radiation biology or other related fields. Prior experience with in vivo animal tumor models, CRISPR/Cas9, IF/IHC and DNA damage assays is highly desired, but not a requirement. The candidate should be self-motivated and have a proven track record of productivity. Excellent written and oral communication skills are expected.
