A call is open for applications for a Post-Doctoral Research Grant (BIPD) under the Project “SubSus - New sustainable products for the horticultural sector
and development of natural biocidal extracts for agricultural pests and diseases ”, with funding “COMPETE2030- FEDER-01184500), under the SIID Programs - Business R&D - Co-promotion - Low Density (MPr-2023-8)”, under the following conditions:

1. Scientific Area:
Pharmacy

2. Admission requirements:
1) PhD in Pharmacy or related areas;
2) Experience in the extraction and characterization of bioactive molecules;
3) Experience in evaluating the antimicrobial activity of natural extracts;
4) Experience in developing bioactive formulations;
5) Proficiency in English (written and oral communication) will also be valued.

3. Work plan:
1) Development of an extraction process based on green technologies, sustainable, easily scalable and economically viable;
2) Chemical, bioactive and stability characterization of the extracts obtained;
3) Development of extracts and/or formulations based on mixtures of extracts with increased fungistatic/fungicidal and insecticidal/repellent activity;
4) Studying the efficacy of the extracts in controlling the fungi powdery mildew and mites, trips and aphids.

4. Goals:
The main goals of this project will be:

1) optimization of the extraction of bioactivemolecules;

2) chemical and bioactive characterization;

3) development of antimicrobial and biocidal formulations.

6. Place of work and scientific guidance:

The work will be carried out at the IPB Mountain Research Center, under the scientific guidance of Sandrina Heleno.

7. duration of the grant:
The grant will have an initial duration of 12 months, starting on 18/08/2025 (with the possibility of renewal up to a maximum of 24 months, including the initial period).

8. amount of the monthly grant:
The amount of the grant corresponds to 1,851.00€, according to the table of grants awarded by FCT, I.P. in the country. Grant holders will be covered bypersonal accident insurance and, if they are not covered by any social protection scheme, they can ensure that they exercise their right to social security by joining the voluntary social insurance scheme, under the terms of the Code of Contributory Schemes of the Social Security System. The grant will be paid monthly by bank transfer.

9. Selection methods and how they will be assessed:

The selection methods to be used will be as follows:

a) Curriculum evaluation and its suitability for the job at (40%);

b) Knowledge/experience in the optimization and chemical characterization of bioactive molecules (30%); c) Knowledge/experience in the development of formulations with potential bioactive (30%).

The communications and final results of the evaluation will be published via the IPB's application submission portal or, if necessary, by notification via
email.

The tender is open from 25/07/2025 to 07/08/2025.

13. How to submit applications:
Applications can be submitted via the IPB's application submission portal (http://concursos.ipb.pt), including the following documents:
a) Curriculum Vitae;
b) Certificate of qualifications;
c) Motivation letter
Documents proving that the applicant holds academic degrees or diplomas, or that is enrolled in an academic degree or diploma, may be waived at the
application stage and replaced by a declaration of honor by the applicant., but verification of this condition is mandatory at the grant contracting stage.

Academic degrees obtained in foreign countries need to be recognized by a Portuguese institution in accordance with Decree-Law no. 66/2018 of August 16 and Ordinance no. 33/2019 of January 25. The presentation of recognition is mandatory for signing the contract.

14 Deadlines and procedures for complaints and appeals:
If the decision to be taken is unfavorable to the award of the grant applied for, candidates have a period of 10 working days after the date of publication of the results of the evaluation to make a statement, if they wish, in the form of a prior hearing, under the terms of the Code of Administrative Procedure. The final decision may be appealed to the President of the IPB within 15 working days of notification.
