The Laboratory of Instrumentation and Experimental Particle Physics (LIP) is opening an external competition, for international selection, to recruit a Researcher in the LIP Scientific-Technical Career, for the development of scientific research work, in the area of Scientific Computation, to join the SPAC group of LIP. The candidate will be hired under an open-ended work contract.

• Decree-Law nº. 57/2016, 29 August, amended by Law nº. 57/2017, 19 July

Duties to perform

The candidate will develop scientific work in the area of Scientific Computation, supporting the scientific, training and outreach activities of the Social Physics and Complexity Lab (SPAC). The candidate will work directly with SPACs Coordinator and other team members, leading and implementing projects from grant design to reporting. These activities may include grant writing, data analysis, supervision or co-supervision of undergraduate and graduate students, preparation of manuscripts and other reports for publication, and general support of SPAC’s activities.

Candidates must submit the following documentation:

1. Motivation letter (max. 1 page);
2. Curriculum Vitae (max. 3 page);
3. Copy of certificates or diplomas. For candidates with diplomas issued by foreign institutions, the presentation of the recognition/equivalence will be required for the signature of the contract;
4. Proposal of an activity plan for the next 3 years (scientific activities, coordination, supervision, and dissemination of scientific culture – max. 1 page)
5. Example of a thesis that the candidate had supervised or co-supervised, preferably at doctoral level;
6. 3 publications, one at least in the area of the tender;
7. Reference of at least one project that received competitive funding (e.g. FCT) of which the candidate was Principal Investigator;
8. Example of another output that the candidate considers relevant, for example, a database, code or outreach activity;
9. Contacts of two referees

All candidates who formalise their applications in an improper way or fail to prove the requirements imposed by this tender are excluded from admission. In case of doubt, the panel is entitled to request any candidate to present further documentation supporting his/her statements. False statements provided by the candidates are punished by law.

This tender is exclusively destined to fill the vacancy and can be terminated at any time until approval of final candidate list, expiring with the respective occupation of said vacancy.
