The Cyprus Institute invites applications for highly qualified and motivated Researcher to join the Institute’s CARE-C Centre of Excellence, Environmental Observations Department (EOD) on a full-time basis (100% FTE) for its premises at Athalassas Campus.

We are recruiting a talented individual in the field of aerosol characterisation using the synergy between remote sensing and in-situ methodologies. The successful candidate will mainly focus on mineral dust and on the Eastern Mediterranean and Middle East (EMME) region, and on synergetic approaches that can extract optimised information from different investigative methodologies. Research will be in liaison with the objectives of the Dust-DN project.

Position Specific Responsibilities/activities:

• • Maintaining long-term observational capabilities
• • Participating in intensive field campaigns
• • Designing novel tailor-made algorithms and inversion methods
• • Combining information obtained with different methods to generate a full picture of the aerosol properties
• • Evaluating the results in terms of applications to satellite cal/val and/or model evaluation
• • Publishing results in peer-reviewed scientific literature and journals
• • Contributing to the preparation of grant proposals
