A two-year postdoctoral research position is available at the Institute of Space Sciences and Technologies of Asturias, at the University of Oviedo. The position focuses on the study of the surface of small icy bodies in the Solar System. The successful candidate will carry out research based on the analysis and interpretation of observational data from state-of-the-art ground-based and space-based telescopes, notably the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST).

The project will focus on the physical and compositional characterisation of these objects, and on investigating the physical and chemical processes that the ice undergoes on its surface. The objective will be to provide new observational constraints on the processes involved in the formation of planetary systems, as well as on the origin and early evolution of the Solar System. The results obtained will be integrated and discussed within the current framework of planetary science and astrophysics, with special emphasis on the connection between the surface properties of icy bodies and scenarios of planetary formation and evolution.

The position offers integration into a newly formed group in a dynamic scientific environment, with opportunities to collaborate on international projects, publish in high-impact journals, and participate in specialised conferences.
