The SELINA project – Science for Evidence-based and Sustainable Decisions about Natural Capital aims to provide scientific guidance and practical tools to support evidence-based decision-making that promotes the protection, restoration, and sustainable use of ecosystems, biodiversity, and the services they provide, thereby contributing to achieving the objectives of the EU Biodiversity Strategy for 2030 and the European Green Deal.

Skills/Qualifications

The call is open to national, foreign and stateless candidates who hold a Master’s degree in Biology, Ecology, Geography, Environmental Sciences, or related fields, and who possess a scientific and professional curriculum demonstrating an appropriate profile for the activities to be carried out (see point 7).

If the Master’s degree has been awarded by a foreign higher education institution, it must comply with the provisions of Decree-Law no. 66/2018 of 16 August, and all formalities established therein must be fulfilled by the date of signing the employment contract.

Specific Requirements

Proven experience in statistics and environmental/ecological data analysis

Experience in ecological modelling techniques (static and dynamic) using programming languages (preferably R)

Experience participating in national or regional research projects

Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills

Availability to undertake national and international travel representing the team

Proven experience participating in scientific research activities and collaborating in the preparation of scientific publications

Fluency in English and Portuguese
