CTFC is seeking to recruit a Group Head to strengthen the work line on Knowledge Transfer, Innovation and Development in the fields of sustainable forest management, forest dynamics, silviculture, forest inventories, and forest planning.
The selected candidate will lead and promote activities focused on knowledge transfer and applied innovation, with a particular emphasis on forest management as a tool for adapting to and mitigating the impacts of climate change, as well as for the sustainable provision of forest products and ecosystem services from forests.
The candidate will join as Group Head within the Sustainable Forest Management and Agroforestry Restoration Group, part of the Multifunctional Forest Management Programme, in order to lead the aforementioned work line.

The Forest Science and Technology Centre of Catalonia (CTFC), located in Solsona (Pre-Pyrenees, 120 km from Barcelona), Spain, employs app. 200 staff, produces more than 120 scientific articles annually, and has a turnover of around 12 Mil. €/year. The CTFC’s research activity is organized into four programs: Multifunctional Forest Management, Landscape Dynamics and Planning, Biodiversity Management and Conservation, and Bioeconomy, Health, and Governance. TERMS OF THE APPOINTMENT
1. Start date: 1 September 2026
2. Contract: Scientific-technical activities contract. Duration of 3 years with the possibility of extension.
3. Working hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week, flexible according to the collective agreement
4. Work location: Solsona (Solsonès), Spain
5. Professional category: Head of KTT and R&D Group
6. Salary: According to CTFC’s professional career system, based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience within the category
 

KEY RESPONSABILITIES
1. Coordinate the activities and projects to be carried out within the sustainable forest management work line.
2. Define the strategy and priorities of the work line, in coordination with the Programme Head and Deputy Directors, in order to ensure continuity of the sustainable forest management line.
3. Coordinate and supervise project implementation to ensure proper development within established deadlines and quality standards.
4. Manage human resources and coordinate their tasks to ensure the proper execution of the group’s projects.
5. Be responsible for liaising with project promoters and stakeholders to identify opportunities, participate in proposal development, and, once awarded, ensure the successful achievement of project objectives.
6. Lead the preparation and submission of project proposals in competitive calls.
7. Monitor and review the status and evolution of the group’s R&D activity needs.
8. Draft and supervise technical reports and project deliverables.
9. Write and contribute to technical and scientific publications.
10. Promote the training and specialization of technical and scientific staff within the group’s work lines.
11. Carry out any other responsibilities not listed but inherent to the qualifications and general competencies of the position.
