Institute of Oriental Studies at Adam Mickiewicz University (Poznań, Poland) seeks to appoint a lecturer specialising in the practical teaching of Chinese and classical Chinese. We are looking for a highly motivated person with relevant knowledge and experience in teaching Chinese as a foreign language and classical Chinese. The selected candidate will be expected to teach Chinese to university students of the 1st and 2nd cycle (as defined within the framework of the Bologna Process). The teaching workload will be 330 hrs per academic year.

The competition is open to individuals who meet the requirements specified in Article 113 of the Law on Higher Education and Science of 20 July 2018 (Journal of Laws of 2024, item 1571,  Article 113 as amended) and who meet the following requirements:

1. 1. B.A. or M.A. degree in philology;
2. 2. Ph.D. in Chinese linguistics;
3. 3. several years of teaching experience (Mandarin Chinese language didactics);
4. 4. knowledge of Mandarin Chinese at the native speaker level;
5. 5. excellent educational background regarding teaching Chinese
6. 6. good knowledge of written and spoken English;
7. 7. educational background for teaching subjects such as reading specialist texts, text  composition and Chinese culture will be an additional asset;
8. 8. Knowledge of Polish at a communicative level will be an additional asset.

The candidate should have proven experience in teaching modern Chinese. Experience in teaching reading of specialist texts and text composition as well as willingness to conduct classes on Chinese culture will be an additional asset.
