We are seek ing a postdoctoral research er with a strong back ground in cellular and molecular biology, as well as in preclinical mouse models, to investigate th e role of osteoprotegerin in th e path ogenesis of osteosarcoma. Th is position is offered for a period of 3 years. This project is being carried out as part of the INCa-20115 project at US2B, CNRS UMR6286 (Faculty of Science and Tech nology) with in Prof. D. Heymann's team based at th e Institut de Cancérologie
de l'Ouest (Saint-Herblain). The experiments (design, planning and execution) will be the responsibility of th e postdoctoral researcher, in consultation with Prof. D. Heymann, the project supervisor. The project will h ave access to th e facilities of th e US2B Unit, the team and all the platforms of the SFR Bonamy at the University of Nantes.
Task s :Osteosarcoma is the most common primary malignant bone tumourin children, with a low survival rate once metastases have developed. Previous work by our consortium (Nantes/Paris) h as sh own that the RANKL signalling path way plays a role at several levels in th e development of osteosarcoma and its metastases. Initial studies on cells cultured from these tumours have shown th atth ey are h igh ly metastatic and predominantly tetraploid, an unstable state associated with tumour development. The aim of th is project is to elucidate the origin of the development of th ese tumours in Opg-/- mice and the molecular
mech anisms underlying th eir h igh metastatic potential. 

Th e expected resuIts are the identification of a new role forOPG in th e initiation of tetraploid osteosarcoma and the ch aracterisation of new pro-metastatic mark ers of diagnostic and th erapeutic interest.
