The Structured Light and Matter Unit (LUMES) at the University of Salamanca, recently established and funded by the Junta de Castilla y León, is looking to hire an Expert in Science Communication and Outreach.

We are seeking a highly motivated professional to be part of a long-term project, leading the communication and outreach efforts of a research center with a long trajectory. The selected candidate will work in collaboration with LUMES’ approximately 50 researchers to strengthen the connection between research and society and ensure visibility for LUMES’ achievements. This role is key to positioning LUMES for national excellence recognition under the María de Maeztu program.

LUMES brings together around 50 researchers specializing in cutting-edge fields such as Optics, Photonics, Materials Science, and Magnetism, affiliated with the University of Salamanca and the Center for Pulsed Lasers. Responsibilities:

✔ Internal and external communication of LUMES, ensuring proper dissemination of its objectives, activities, and results.
✔ Development of a communication plan for LUMES.
✔ Writing press releases, article summaries, and other outreach materials.
✔ Management and maintenance of LUMES’ website and social media accounts.
✔ Organization of events (seminar series, conferences, and summer schools), promoting scientific exchange and the training of new talent.
✔ Design and implementation of science outreach activities for diverse audiences.
✔ Bibliometric support and advice for LUMES researchers to optimize the dissemination of their results, both within the scientific community and the general public.
✔ Creation of graphic and audiovisual content to enhance communication impact.
✔ Collaboration with local, national, and international media to ensure visibility for LUMES.
✔ Preparation of impact reports on communication and outreach activities.
