Call for 1 Research Scholarship for Masters’s degree holders (BI) in the scope of R&D project “Spiritual practices and psychedelic substances in ritualized emerging contexts: therapeutic and sociocultural implications” (SPIRECTS), financed by national funds through FCT/MCTES (PIDDAC).

Work plan

The grantee to be hired will be expected to work on the activities required within the scope of the project, in conjunction with the project team. The tasks to be carried out include: 

a) Contribution to the literature review and theoretical framework in the thematic areas defined in the project, including the gathering of documentary and bibliographic information on the topics to be investigated (task 3); 

b) Eventual collaboration in fieldwork collection (according to the defined methodology) for the case studies that are assigned, according to the needs of the project (tasks 4, 5 and 6);

c) Participation in the organization, processing and analysis of the data collected in each of the project phases, in accordance with the defined methodology (task 7);

d) Participation in disseminating the project's results, including updating the website and other content created, as well as organizing their dissemination through the project’s scientific initiatives and events (e.g. seminars) and other forms of dissemination (task 8).

Objectives:

1. To gather documentary and bibliographic information appropriate to the topics to be investigated, contributing to the literature review and the theoretical framework in the project’s thematic areas; 

2.To contribute eventually to the collection of data from the defined populations, according to the outlined methodology, based on the needs of the project;

3. Processing and analyzing the materials collected according to pre-defined parameters; 

4. Contribute to other scientific activities required within the scope of the project.

The realization of the previous work plan and the defined objectives will be relevant to the acquisition by the scholarship holder of theoretical and methodological skills in the scientific areas in question, as well as practical experience in team research.

Duration of the scholarship: The scholarship will last for 12 months, starting in July 2025.

Applications must be formalized by sending a letter of application accompanied by the following documents: Curriculum Vitae, certificate of qualifications, proof of enrollment in a doctoral programme or course that does not award an academic degree integrated into the pedagogical project of a higher education institution, and other supporting documents considered relevant.

In the case of academic degrees obtained in foreign higher education institutions, it is necessary to present the recognition of the degrees obtained, in accordance with Decree-Law No. 66/2018, of August 16; or, in the absence of recognition at the time of application, a sworn statement that this will be done before the scholarship is contracted in the event of the candidate being selected.

However, it is compulsory to present the acknowledgement before the scholarship is contracted.
