About the programme/project/undertaking:

Title of programme/project/ undertaking: Gender Gaps in Political Participation: Examining the Relationships Between Gender Equality and Gender-Role Attitudes in Europe, 1999 – 2021

Type of programme/project/ undertaking: Sonata-19

Funding institution: NCN

Duration of programme/project/undertaking: November 4, 2024 – November 3, 2027

Head of programme/project/undertaking: Dr. Olga Lavrinenko

Description of programme/project/undertaking:

This project examines the influence of national gender equality and individual gender-role attitudes on the gender gaps in different types of political participation across Europe from 1999 to 2021. It advances the multidimensional approach to gender-role attitudes alongside a newly established Gender Equality Index. The study utilizes extensive cross-national survey data and sophisticated statistical modeling to reveal the impact of these micro-macro interactions on the gender gaps in political participation. The findings seek to enhance theoretical frameworks, create novel analytical instruments, and produce publicly available data to facilitate academic and civic discourse on gender and politics.
