The aim of the RECOGNISING-SAINTS project is a comprehensive analysis of the phenomenon of the recognition and formalization of cults of saints in Latin Europe from the late 10th to the late 13th centuries. The subject of interest is both local approval of sainthood and papal canonizations, as well as the actors involved in the process of recognizing new cults and the forms in which this took place. The primary research tool, and an important outcome of the project besides publications, will be the Sainthood Recognition Catalogue - a complete digital catalogue of all cases of sainthood recognition in the High Middle Ages.
Basic responsibilities and obligations:
-researching the phenomenon of saint recognition inthe High Middle Ages, especially in areas outside theformer Roman areas such as Scandinavia, theBritish Isles, most areas of Germany, East CentralEurope etc.
-collecting data and entering them into theSainthood Recognition Catalogue.
-participating in the analysis and interpretation of thecollected data.
-publishing the results in internationally recognizedscientific journals and publications, includingparticipation in the creation of a collectivemonograph.
-participation in the dissemination of the projectresults at international conferences and seminars.
-participation in the organization of events related tothe research project, such as conferences andworkshops, both scientific and popularscience/promotional, and in the editing of collectivepublications related to the project.
-cooperation with the Principal Investigator andother team members, including a regular presence inthe office and participation in weekly team meetings.
