Postdoctoral context:

The "Harmonic and Multifractal Analysis" (AHM) team at the Laboratory of Analysis and Applied Mathematics (LAMA) at the University Paris-Est Créteil is a world-renowned research team in applied mathematics. The team is dedicated to developing methods and mathematical models to analyze, describe, and represent various multi-scale data. One of the objectives of the AHM team, in collaboration with geographers, is to design new synthetic multi-scale and multivariate indicators characterizing urban phenomena. Their simulation will help understand and evaluate the effect of development policies through cross- cutting concepts such as socio-spatial segregation, land use, and pollutant emissions, which unfold at multiple scales and require the integration of very diverse data.

Postdoctoral objectives :

During this postdoctoral position, the recruited individual will work particularly on the development of multivariate mathematical models and the characterization of their properties (geometric, fractal, statistical) intended for the study of urban data. This data includes population, housing, pollution, and energy consumption data, potentially correlated with each other. Quantitatively characterizing different spatial configurations through a multi-scale approach is a recognized objective in geography, particularly thanks to the tools provided by fractal geometry. The recruited individual will be required to interact with teams in mathematics, signal processing, and geography to contribute to this interdisciplinary field.

The candidate is expected to:
• Conduct original and innovative research in mathematics and/or signal and image
processing, in interaction with geography.
• Write and publish several scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals, including
specialized and interdisciplinary journals.
• Present research results at national and international conferences.
• Collaborate with other researchers and actively participate in the activities of the
laboratory or department

Description of the Research Environment:

The Laboratory of Analysis and Applied Mathematics (https://lama-umr8050.fr/) is a joint research unit affiliated with three institutions: CNRS, University Paris-Est Créteil (UPEC), and Gustave Eiffel University (UGE). LAMA has over hundred and twenty members, including approximately 70 permanent members. The AHM team is very active and organizes numerous multidisciplinary seminars and conferences, in which the recruited individual will participate (they will be encouraged to take part in the organization of some of these seminars).

Supervision :

The recruited individual will be part of the AHM team at LAMA, University Paris-Est Créteil, and will be supervised by S. Jaffard, S. Seuret (mathematicians, members of LAMA), and O. Bonin (geographer, Ville Mobilité Transport Laboratory, Gustave Eiffel University).
