Introduction to the vacant position:

ThePluripotency for organ regeneration Group at the Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC) is looking for a Post-doctoral Researcher to conduct her/his postdoctoral training in the framework of the project COMPLEXORG whose main objective is to develop human organoid models to study genetic and systemic conditions during Congenital Anomalies Of The Kidney And Urinary Tract.

Main tasks and responsibilities:

• Development of renal, cardiac and neural derivatives from human pluripotent stem cells (hPSCs) in 2D and 3D cell culture settings making use of engineering approaches to define controlled microenvironments.

• Development of patient-CAKUT hPSCs to model disease mechanisms.

• Development and Implementation of quantitative and qualitative assays to monitor molecular and metabolic changes as well as cell-cell interactions during organoid development in 2D and 3D cell culture settings.

Requirements for candidates:

Essential:

• PhD in the field of biology, biotechnology, biomedical engineering, biomedicine or similar areas
• Mínimum 3 years of professional experience after completing the thesis
• Proved knowledge on culture and differentiation of human pluripotent stem cells (hPSC) (specifically on methodologies to derive hPSC-organoids will be a plus), confocal microscopy and quantitative image analysis, as well as molecular biology techniques.
• Experience in bioengineering technologies such as microfabrication, biomaterials and organ-on-chip approaches.
• Competencies and skills: Communication, Teamwork and collaboration, Commitment, Proactivity, Integrity, Critical and Analytical thinking.
• High level of English

Advantageous:

• Experience in developing custom made scripts for image processing and quantification.
• Experience in CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing
