Work environment : Institut des Sciences de l'Evolution de Montpellier" (ISEM) gathers 270 personals working on evolutionary biology, palaeontology and ecology. The person to be hired will be assigned to team "Evolution Expérimentale des Communautés". He/she will interact with the totality of ISEM research groups and facilities, particularly the PEM and EvoDemo groups, and the Biodiversité Moléculaire and Bioinformatic facilities.

Main mission : Produce theoretical and/or applied knowledge in evolutionary genetics and epidemiology, particularly on antibioresistance evolution in bacterial or eukaryotic pathogens.

Activities :
- model the demographic and evolutionary responses of pathogen populations to antibiotic treatment across various time scales
- compare the predictions of these models to epidemiological data available from public databases in various countries, particularly tropical ones
- analyse the diversity and evolution of pathogen genomes and link genetic changes to the evolution of the antibioresistance phenotype
- supervise early career scientists and engineers on research projects related to antibioresistance and the development of modeling, bioinformatic and artificial intelligence tools
- apply for national and international research grants
- contribute to scientific networking on antibioresistance at the local and national scales
