Job Offer: Postdoctoral Researcher (Lead Scientist) – Formulation Development

Pre-Seed Spin-off – Ghent University

We are developing next-generation oral drug delivery systems using innovative poly(2-oxazoline) (PAOx) excipients. Our goal is to establish a spin-off company that will commercialize this unique polymer platform for amorphous solid dispersions (ASDs) and controlled-release (CR) tablets.

We are seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher (Lead Scientist) for the formulation development and process optimization work, bridging academic research and industrial application. This is a unique opportunity to help transform university research into a venture.

Your Role

• Lead the design and development of oral solid dosage forms (tablets, capsules) with PAOx excipients.
• Optimize and evaluate drug release profiles for hydrophilic and hydrophobic APIs.
• Conduct preclinical-scale formulation studies, generating data to support translational and regulatory milestones.
• Collaborate closely with the Supramolecular Chemistry Group, the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, and industry partners.
• Contribute to scientific publications, patents, and investor/partner presentations.

Your Profile

• PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, or a related field (completed or to be defended within 3 months).
• Strong experience in oral solid dosage form development, ideally with ASD (hot-melt extrusion, spray drying) or CR formulations.
• Familiarity with poly(2-oxazoline)s or other functional excipients is a strong plus.
• Solid publication record, hands-on experimental skills, and strong communication abilities.
• Entrepreneurial mindset: motivated to work in a pre-seed spin-off environment.
