for the position

1. one executor (m/f) to the associate position – I grade – Senior Assistant, in the scientific field: Natural sciences, scientific field: Physics, for a fixed period until 30/11/2027, full-time, at the Hvar Observatory, University of Zagreb – Faculty of Geodesy, on the HrZZ project “Solar Chromosphere in ALMA's Eyes: Newly Ascending High-Resolution Interferometry and MHD Modeling to Reveal Hidden Wave Dynamics (SCi-AEneAs)”.

Applicants to the competition must meet the conditions for selection to the position of Senior Assistant prescribed by the Higher Education and Scientific Activity Act (OG 119/22).

MANDATORY CONDITIONS:

1. • completed an appropriate doctoral degree in physics, astrophysics or a related study
2. • knowledge of English
3. • knowledge of the Python programming language
4. • previous experience in the field of solar physics, oscillations and waves
5. • previous experience in the solar radio observations and processing solar radio data.

SPECIFIC ADDITIONAL CRITERIA:

1. • teamwork readiness
2. • high level of motivation
3. • developed communication skills
4. • previous participation in scientific research work, published works, personal presentations at scientific conferences
5. • recommendations from former mentors, professors or colleagues.

EXPLANATION OF THE JOB DUTIES THAT THE SELECTED CANDIDATE WILL PERFORM:

• • Optimization of the high-resolution solar interferometric imaging and self-calibration loop.
• • Extraction of wave-modes and dissipative regions on the Sun from the high-cadence/high-resolution ALMA data.
• • Reconstruction and analysis of 3D structure of the studied solar region by means of MHD simulations and seismologic inversions.

Job description is prescribed by the Act on higher Education and Scientific activity (OG 119/22) and Ordinance on the establishment of jobs at the Faculty of Geodesy, Class: 003-05/18-07/03, Reg. No.: 380-65-07-03-18-1 of 22 February 2018 and Class: 011-01/22-01/1, Reg. No.: 380-65-01-22-1 of 8 July 2022.

Applicants claiming the right of employment preference under Article 48.f of the Law on the Protection of Military and Civilian War Invalids are required to submit a decision or certificate confirming their recognized status, clearly indicating the right to employment preference. They must also provide a written statement declaring that they have not previously exercised this right, as well as documentation showing the manner in which their employment with their last employer was terminated (e.g. decision, contract, agreement, etc.).

Applicants claiming the right of employment preference under Article 9 of the Law on Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment of Persons with Disabilities are required to submit proof of their recognized status as a person with a disability.

University of Zagreb – Faculty of Geodesy reserves the right to annul the competition or not accept any applications.
