The University of Coimbra opens a call for one Postdoctoral/Auxiliary Researcher in the framework of the project “CogBooster: Rebooting Psychological Research through Cognitive Neuroscience”, funded by the European Commission through the Horizon Europe Program under GA 101087584, in the conditions described below.

Scientific area: Psychology, Cognitive Neuroscience or Biomedical engineering, or similar areas.

Work plan/objectives: The researcher will carry out a set of activities that will support the implementation of the project. These activities include acquiring and analyzing behavioral and brain imaging data from vision science experiments, with an emphasis on discovering and modeling the mechanisms of visual perception and prediction. The researcher will be expected to take the lead in writing manuscripts for publication based on the experimental results. The researcher will also support the entire team in other activities, in particular with regard to the presentation of communications at national and international scientific events, and development and maintenance of lab resources and documentation.

Skills/Qualifications: The applicants should hold a PhD degree in Psychology, Cognitive Neuroscience or Biomedical engineering, or similar areas.

Wages and Benefits: The successful candidate will be hired by the University of Coimbra for 12 months, as a Researcher under a full-time work contract. According to the Portuguese legislation on public hiring of researchers (Decree-Law 124/99), the contract includes the following benefits:

• • Gross monthly remuneration of €2,334.19, paid over 14 months (including Holiday and Christmas allowances);
• • Social Security Tax;
• • Meal Allowance.

Work Location: Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences of the University of Coimbra, Portugal.

Selection criteria:

• • Quality of the Curriculum (65%): Proven programming skills: Matlab, Unix, Python (30%), Relevant publications in the project area (30%), The correspondence between the candidate's profile expressed in the letter of motivation and the requirements of the project (40%);
• • Evaluation of the motivation letter (35%) - On understanding the technical capacity of the candidate regarding experimental design and data analysis (40%), On understanding the theoretical capacity of the candidate to the level of knowledge of the central theoretical questions (60%).
