UiT The Arctic University of Norway has established «The Arctic MSCA-PF program» (uit.no/arcticmsca) to recruit excellent young researchers planning to apply for a Marie Skƚodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship (MSCA-PF) to pursue a career in research. We invite applications from promising young researchers within the field of Juridical Sciences. The selected candidate will write a proposal for a 24-month MSCA-PF at UiT together with Assoc. Prof. Endalew Lijalem Enyew as supervisor. This is an opportunity to accelerate your research career while living in the urban research city of Tromsø.

This call is one of 33 from pre-selected supervisors at UiT The Arctic University of Norway through the “Arctic MSCA-PF program”. Successful postdoc candidates will be invited for a two-day MSCA-PF symposium June 10-11, 2026 (hybrid physical/digital event, see details at https://uit.no/arcticmsca/programstructure). At this event, the candidates will present their past research achievements, discuss future plans with their potential supervisor and learn how to write a successful MSCA-PF application. The selected candidates will, jointly with the supervisor, write the MSCA-PF application by the deadline of September 9, 2026.

In this call we search for talented, young researchers within the field of Juridical sciences with a special interest in Indigenous peoples' rights, and/or the law of the sea, and/or green energy transition and indigenous peoples rights, and/or human rights as presented by. Assoc. Prof. Endalew Lijalem Enyew:

I am currently an Associate Professor and leader of the Research Group for Sami and Indigenous Peoples Law at the Faculty of Law of UiT-The Arctic University of Norway. I am also co-leading a collaborative project linked to the Nordic Network of Researchers on Sami and Indigenous Peoples Law (NORSIL).

While my academic qualification spans diverse fields of law and social science, my research for the last decade focuses on the law of the sea, environmental law, human rights law, Indigenous peoples’ rights, climate change and green energy transition vis-à-vis Indigenous peoples' rights, and critical legal theory focusing on Third World approaches to international law (TWAIL). As of today, I have authored and co-authored 24 scientific publications (2 forthcoming) – consisting of 2 books, 9 book chapters, and 12 articles – published in high-impact peer-reviewed journals and book publishers. My recent publication is a book titled "Indigenous Peoples, Marine Space and Resources, and International Law: The Interaction between the International Human Rights Law and the Law of the Sea" (Routledge, 2024). The overall aim of my research is to influence the legal research community and other disciplines, decision-makers, and practitioners thereby contributing to society.

Please send your CV (max 3 pages) and describe a research project that will strengthen and complement the presented research (max 2 pages) to endalew.l.enyew@uit.no by Feb 16th, 2026. Mark your application "Arctic MSCA". Successful candidates will be contacted in late March 2026.
