Description:

A postdoctoral position within the project “The impact of SUMOylation on the spatiotemporal response of eukaryotic cells to replication stress” (OPUS 28, National Science Centre (NCN), grant no. UMO-2024/55/B/NZ2/00286) is available in the Department of Cell Genetics and Physiology at the Faculty of Biological Sciences, University of Wrocław. The selected candidate(s) will work in a research team led by Dr hab. Karol Kramarz, investigating the mechanisms of the replication stress response in eukaryotic cells using yeast and human model systems.

Requirements

1. • Hold a PhD in molecular biology, biochemistry, bioinformatics, biology or related fields.
2. • Practical knowledge and skills in basic laboratory techniques / western blotting, PCR-qPCR, additional assets are computational techniques relevant for proteomics and next generation sequencing analyses
3. • Documented research achievements, including publication record and participation in conferences
4. • Willingness to acquire new skills and techniques, embrace challenges and show ability to work independently and as a part of the team.
5. • Good command of English. Polish is not required although will be helpful.

Offer

1. • Full-time employment for a period of 12 months with possible prolongation for next 33 months.
2. • Annual salary at 140 000 zł (gross gross). The final monthly remuneration will be calculated individually during the employment process.
3. • Position focused on scientific research – no teaching commitments.
4. • Administrative support.
5. • Participation in international meetings, courses.

Recruitment rules

1. • The post-doc position is awarded in accordance with Annex No. 1 to the resolution of the NCN Council No. 84/2024 of September 5, 2024: https://www.ncn.gov.pl/sites/default/files/pliki/uchwaly-rady/2024/uchwala84_2024-zal1.pdf
2. • A person applying for a post-doc position must meet the following conditions:
   • - obtained a doctoral degree within 12 years prior to January 1 of the year of employment in the project
   • - the project manager was not the supervisor or auxiliary supervisor of applicant’s doctoral dissertation;
   • - obtained a doctoral degree in an entity other than the entity where employment in this position is planned, or completed at least 10-month, continuous and documented postdoctoral internship in an entity other than the entity implementing the project and in a country other than the country of obtaining the doctoral degree;
   • - will be employed for a period of not less than 6 months;
   • - during the period of receiving this remuneration, will not receive any other remuneration from funds allocated as direct costs from research projects financed under NCN calls;
   • - during the period of receiving this remuneration, will not receive remuneration from another employer under an employment contract, including from an employer based outside the territory of Poland;
   • - during the period of receiving this remuneration, will not receive retirement benefits from the social security system.
