The research group of Molecular Entomology under the European Program HORIZON-CL6-2022-FARM2FORK-01, entitled “Risk AssessmenT InnOvatioN for low-risk pesticides, RATION” (Program Coordinator Prof. John Vontas) invites applications for one (1) motivated Postdoctoral Researcher


About the lab

Molecular Entomology Lab in IMBB-FORTH has a main interest to study and understand the mechanisms by which disease vectors and agricultural pests develop resistance to insecticides, as well as explore novel insecticide targets and biotechnology based approaches to control insects.


Job Description:

The successful applicant must be an Evolutionary Geneticist who will be part of the insecticide resistance group, and he/she will take genomic and functional genetic approaches to characterize mechanisms of insecticide resistance. They should also be adaptable and able to work with a range of people in a multicultural environment. Excellent knowledge of English is required

Skills/Qualifications

Required qualifications:

  • • BSc in Biology
  • • PhD in Biology
  • • Excellent oral and written skills in English language
  • • More than 5 years’ experience in the molecular and genomic basis of insecticide resistance, with a particular emphasis on genomics and functional genetics

Desired qualifications:

  • • Working experience in genomics
  • • Working experience in functional genetics
  • • Working experience in insecticide resistance
  • • Working experience in student/post doc supervision

Benefits

  • • Contract Duration: 6 months with the possibility of extension according to the project needs.
  • • Total budget: 2000-2300 € monthly cost (incl. tax and social security)
  • • Envisaged starting date: 1st of April 2026
  • • Application submission: Interested applicants should submit their application electronically by February 27th, 2026 @ 13:00 (Greece time).
