Gulbenkian Institute for Molecular Medicine (GIMM) opens a call for one research fellowship under the project “EvoInHi - Evolution in the Gut in Health and Disease” with the funding support from“, financed by Research Council Executive Agency, under the program Horizon Europe.

Work Plan and Objectives:
The post-doctoral fellow will work closely with experimentalists in Isabel Gordo’s lab to study patterns of bacterial evolution under competition for resources. The project requires ability to program and to analyze the results of simulated data to unravel the patterns of genetic and phenotypic diversity expected under different conditions of resource competition. The post-doctoral fellow will develop new modeling frameworks, using R or a related language.

Any National, foreign and stateless candidate(s).

Applicants must hold the following requirements:

• • PhD in Biological Sciences (including Bioinformatics, Microbiology or Computational Biology);
• • Less than 3 years of postdoctoral experience;
• • Experience in mathematical modeling and computer simulations;
• • Good knowledge of spoken and written English.

Desirable: Experience in microbiology, particularly in fitness assays and analysis; Attention to detail, well organized, and Ability to keep clean written records and to work independently.
