GIMM opens a call to hire a Researcher with PhD / Postdoctoral Researcher correspondent to the initial level according to the Applicable Regulation, under an Unfixed-term contract under the project “A quantitative analysis of neurogenesis onset and progression in the bilateral vertebrate eyes: dynamicity, synchrony and interplay" with the funding support from Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia, IP.P. / MCTES (REF:2023.14558.PEX).


Work Plan Activities
The project will involve analysing cellular and tissue dynamics through the use of advanced microscopy and image analysis techniques, using the zebrafish as a model organism. It will focus primarily on how retinal neurogenesis is synchronised between the two eyes of the same zebrafish embryo and across different embryos.

Skills/Qualifications

  • • Desirable: PhD in Biological Sciences, Developmental Biology, or a related fiel.

Specific Requirements

Profile of Candidate:

Any National, foreign and stateless candidate(s) that hold the following requirements can apply.

Mandatory:

  • - PhD in Biological Sciences, Developmental Biology, or a related field;
  • - Proven experience in live imaging and manipulation of zebrafish embryos;
  • - Strong background in light-sheet, confocal, and/or spinning-disk microscopy for high-resolution imaging;
  • - Proficiency in microscopy image processing and analysis software, particularly Imaris;
  • - Experience with cellular signalling pathways and their role in tissue/organ development;
  • - Experience in quantitative analysis of developmental processes and asymmetry measurements;
  • - Track record of interdisciplinary collaborations integrating experimental biology with computational/modelling approaches;
