The CGGG hosts a vibrant research community of professors, CNRS researchers, postdoctoral fellows, and doctoral students. It is embedded within the Research Center (La Maison de la Recherche) of the Faculty of Arts, Letters, Languages, and Humanities, located in Aix-en-Provence (Campus ALLSH), with strong ties to the Marseille Centre campus (St Charles) and Marseille-Luminy campus (Calanques National Park). The CGGG regularly organizes conferences, workshops, colloquia, and summer schools, both in French and English. It is also closed tied to the Department of Philosophy at Aix-Marseille Université.

The area of research is open. But ideally, the successful candidate will work on topics related to either (i) conceptual aspects of postwar physics (broadly construed) or (ii) philosophical aspects of quantum field theory (either relativistic or non-relativistic), cosmology or quantum gravity tied to the concept of scale (e.g., effective theories, renormalization group methods, symmetry unification, symmetry breaking mechanisms, dimensional reduction, lattice methods, low-energy theorems). Candidates with research interests in the metaphysics of physics closed related to scientific practice are encouraged to apply too.

The successful candidates will partake in the CGGG's academic activities and enjoy its administrative facilities and support. Proficiency in French is not necessary. Teaching some seminars in English is also possible.

The position is limited to 3 years. We also provide funding to cover costs to attend conferences (around 3000 € per year).
