The National Centre for Nuclear Research opens the competition for the position of Postoc at the Radiation Detectors and Plasma Diagnostics Division

Localization: Świerk near Otwock - in the outskirts of Warsaw with daily transport services provide.

Description of tasks:

Participation in the project ‘Imaging based on gas electron multipliers in conditions of intense radiation from tokamak plasma’ funded by the National Science Centre (OPUS). The project concerns the development and testing of GEM gas detectors with dedicated electronics for data acquisition and processing. The tasks include the preparation of numerical tools, analysis and processing of data from a multi-channel measurement system.

Requirements for the candidate:

• • PhD obtained no earlier than 7 years before employment (per NCN post-doc definition), from an institution other than the host. Employment for at least 6 months.
• • During the contract – no other salary from NCN-funded projects and no other employment contract.
• • Experience in data processing, designing or developing computational algorithms for measurement data (preferred for plasma physics or HEP).
• • Knowledge of Python, Matlab.

Additional assets:

• • Experience in laboratory work and knowledge of the principles of particle detectors and measurement methods used in physics experiments.
• • Experience in plasma physics and programming in Python, C and C++ is welcome.
