We are now accepting applications for 1 postdoctoral research fellowship as part of the DELTA-HUB project, 2026 edition. The fellow will carry out, for a period of 9 months (April 2026 – December 2026), research and support activities associated with the DELTA-HUB project - http://delta-hub.unibuc.ro/ , collaborating with the project’s researchers throughout the duration of the fellowship.

Skills/Qualifications

• • Proven expertise in at least one of the following fields: Hydrology, Oceanography, Physical Geography, Sedimentology;
• • Technical skills: collection and analysis of water and sediment samples (filtration, sieving, granulometric and textural analyses, turbidity, CSS, LOI, SPM, TOC, POC, among others);
• • Use of field sampling equipment and laboratory analysis of water and sediment samples;
• • Experience in writing scientific articles for international journals.
• • Ph.D. in Geography, Earth Sciences, or a related field;
• • Excellent skills in advanced research, academic writing, independent study, and teamwork;
• • Excellent command of English (for academic use);
• • Interest in research topics related to the DELTA-HUB project.

Specific Requirements

• • developing a research proposal on topics related to the DELTA-HUB project during the 9-month duration of the fellowship;
• • researching the latest techniques for collecting and analyzing water and sediment samples;
• • developing/adapting methodologies for collecting and analyzing water and sediment samples for the specific case of the Danube Delta and in specific flood/post-storm scenarios;
• • participation in field campaigns organized within the project and collection of water and sediment samples from various environments in the Danube Delta;
• • analysis of water and sediment samples (filtration, sieving, granulometric and textural analyses, turbidity, CSS, LOI, SPM, TOC, POC, without being limited to these) collected within the project;
• • conducting various types of measurements using specific equipment;
• • participating, whenever requested, in the project team’s working meetings;
• • using water and sediment sampling and analysis equipment available at the Sfântu Gheorghe Marine and River Research Station and in the relevant laboratories of the University of Bucharest;
• • preparing monthly research reports and contributing to the writing of scientific articles;
• • committing a maximum of 40 hours per month to activities specific to the fellowship.
