The Faculty of Humanities at AGH University of Krakow is hiring for the position of Assistant Professor in the Department of Society and Technology Studies. We are seeking a recognized researcher (R2 stage) with experience in the field of sociology (or related research field). We are looking for an academic teacher and a researcher who is interested in conducting and/or participating in research projects that address the mutual influence of society and technology, in line with the profile of the Department. We expect experience as academic teacher and main investigator.

A monthly salary of no less than 8,770 PLN gross, a seniority allowance, and an additional annual remuneration (the 13th salary)

1) PhD in the field of social science, in the discipline of sociology (or a corresponding discipline in the previous classifications of fields and disciplines of science) or PhD in a discipline related to sociology.

2) Academic teaching achievements in the field of social sciences, especially sociology.

3) Documented achievements in organizational work in the field of higher education and/or scientific communication (organization of conferences, editorial work etc.) and/or science communication (creating popular science content, citizen science activities related to sociology etc.).

4) Documented experience as an active participant in national and international conferences and symposia related to sociology.

5) Proven experience in conducting scientific research in the field of sociology (or related research field) documented by publication of scientific book and/or publication of scientific papers in recognized journals by candidate as primary author and/or corresponding author.

6) Experience in national and/or international basic or applied research projects, either as a principal/lead researcher or as a contributing researcher.  

7) Predispositions for conducting scientific research in the field of sociology in line with Department’s profile.

8) Documented knowledge of English at least at level B-2, within the meaning of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages of the Council of Europe; candidates who are not Polish citizens must present a certificate of knowledge of Polish at level B-1 or higher.

9) Willingness to be included in the number of employees conducting scientific activity in the discipline of sociological sciences (100% of working time allocated to conducting this activity),  

10) Research interests that are consistent with the profile of the Department of Society and Technology Studies. The department specialises in studying the interactions between science, technology and society. Currently, a significant proportion of research is located in the area of science and technology studies. Current research projects focus on socio-technical transitions, the social aspects of generative AI, human ecology, design studies, disability studies and the public understanding of science, among other topics. Many of these projects are carried out in cooperation with engineering sciences. As a department, we are interested in both basic and applied research, as well as designing social innovations. We welcome action researchers and scholars familiar with the research-by-design approach.
