Investigation in multimorbidity using different platforms with information from electronic health records to answer questions related to progression of patients with multimorbidity, including the role of individual and social factors, clinical care, and medication. Additionally, information from well-characterized international cohorts will be used to characterize the role of lifestyles and psychosocial determinants in the progression of these patients.

Dr Esther Lopez-Garcia is a Professor at the Department of Preventive Medicine, Public Health and Microbiology, and a Senior Researcher at IMDEA Nutrition. Dr. Lopez-Garcia’s major research interests include epidemiology and the prevention of unhealthy aging through diet and lifestyle. In particular, she has characterized dietary exposures related to the development of physical impairment, risk of recurrent falling, and risk of frailty and multimorbidity. This work is done with cohort studies from Spain, the USA, and United Kingdom, under the AGE_path research group at the UAM.
