The Laboratory of Biochemistry and Applied Genetics I at UFSCar, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Iran Malavazi, has an open postdoctoral fellowship associated with the project “Mapping genome-wide function of the CWI pathway to identify PkcA-dependent and independent targets in the human fungal pathogen Aspergillus fumigatus.”

The selected candidate will conduct research aimed at dissecting signaling pathways that regulate fungal cell wall integrity and antifungal drug susceptibility. The abstract of the research project is provided below in this opportunity announcement.

Candidates must demonstrate prior experience with molecular techniques, including DNA, RNA, and protein isolation; PCR; qPCR; Western blotting; and related approaches. Previous experience in research involving microorganisms, using molecular biology and genetic techniques, as well as mutant construction, is also required. Experience in protein expression and purification, as well as cell culture, is highly desirable.

The candidate must hold a Ph.D. in Microbiology, Biochemistry, Genetics, Molecular Biology, or a related field, and must have scientific productivity compatible with the position. Motivation and the ability to work in a multidisciplinary and inclusive environment, communication skills in English, and experience in writing scientific articles are mandatory.

The position is open to candidates of any nationality. The selected candidate will receive a Postdoctoral Fellowship from the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP), as well as a Research Contingency Fund equal to 10% of the annual fellowship amount to cover unforeseen expenses directly related to research activities or participation in scientific meetings.
