The Department of Economic Analysis: Quantitative Economics at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM) invites expressions of interest from outstanding postdoctoral researchers to co-develop and submit a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship (European Fellowship) proposal, with UAM as host organisation, under the supervision of  Dr. Yérali Gandica. The fellowship will support the study of criticality signatures in financial markets during the 2007–2008 crisis. First, signs of criticality will be identified in financial data, and then the analysis will be extended to social data (which has already been collected). 

The successful candidate will:

  • • Develop and apply Symbolic Transfer Entropy estimators to high-frequency financial time series to characterise the temporal acceleration of directional information flows preceding critical episodes.
  • • Quantify scale invariance and power-law signatures of criticality.
  • • Co-author the MSCA-PF proposal and disseminate results through peer-reviewed publications and international conferences.
