The following position is available to strengthen our team of the Department for Higher Education Research at the Faculty of Education, Arts and Architecture:

Senior Scientist – Postdoc (m/f/d)

30 hrs./week

Your tasks

• planning, organisation and coordination of academic projects (project management and collaboration) as well as development of the new research focus ‘Academic Governance’ at the Centre for Higher Education Governance and Transformation.
• acquisition of third-party funded research projects incl. preparation of project proposals
• coordination and collaboration in the implementation of activities of the ‘Higher Education Research Austria’ network 
• collaboration in the Global Observatory of Higher Education Changes (GOHEC)
• scientific management of the new Certificate Programme (CP) Ombudsman's office/conflict resolution
• involvement in teaching: independent organisation of courses or modules, supervision of final theses and holding of examinations
• participation in the department's public relations activities
• collaboration in the administrative tasks of the Centre as well as the possibility of taking over the management of the Centre for University Governance and Transformation

Your profile

We require evidence of the following qualifications for the application:

• completed university degree (doctorate/PhD) in the humanities
• at least 4 years of professional experience in teaching and research in a university environment and/or comparable institutions
• experience in the (further) development of study programmes in a university environment and/or comparable institutions
• experience in the acquisition of national and/or international third-party funded projects
• proven academic publication activity (publication list)
• involvement in national and/or international networks related to university research
• excellent knowledge of German (at least C1) and very good knowledge of English (at least B2)
• ability to work in a team, high communicative and organisational skills
• independent and proactive way of working

In addition, the following criteria are desirable:

• professional experience in academic continuing education
• research specialisation in at least one of the areas of governance, diversity and third mission
• experience in project management of research and/or development projects
• editorial work
• teaching experience in part-time and/or international study programmes (e.g. Erasmus Mundus)

Your perspective

• part-time position (30 hours/week) initially limited to 31 December 2027, the possibility of a permanent contract is being considered
• minimum salary of EUR 4,932.90 gross per month (14x) on a full-time basis. Willingness to overpay with appropriate qualifications and professional experience
• classification according to § 49 VwGr. B1, Kollektivvertrag für Universitäten (collective agreement for universities)
• start of the employment: 01 July 2025
