Skills/Qualifications

The candidate must hold a doctorate in social sciences, preferably in management science or economic: 

  • Solid Foundation in Social Sciences: Possesses a strong theoretical grounding in social science disciplines, with a preference for backgrounds in Management Studies, Organization Studies, or Economics. This includes understanding key concepts, theories, and analytical frameworks relevant to these fields.
  • Interest and Knowledge in Energy and Ecological Transitions: Demonstrates a keen interest in and ideally possesses knowledge related to energy systems and ecological transitions. This could include familiarity with concepts such as sufficiency, renewable energy, climate change mitigation, sustainable development, territorial resilience, and the socio-economic dimensions of these transitions. Prior research or engagement with these topics would be highly valued.


Early-career postdocs (within 8 years of their defense) will be preferred for this project.



The mission of this postdoctoral position will be carried out within the framework of the project "Organizing the Transition to Scale of Sufficiency for Resilient Territories." This project is funded by the company RTE and in collaboration with the Nantes Université Foundation. The successful candidate will be attached to LEMNA (Laboratory of Economics and Management of Nantes Atlantique) under the responsibility of Mathias Guérineau (Senior Lecturer at Nantes University) and Julie Mayer (Senior Lecturer at Rennes University). Teleworking is possible, but the position will require some in-person coordination. 


The objective of this collaboration is to structure an ambitious research program around four main areas concerning: the business models of sufficiency & entrepreneurship oriented perspective, the link between sufficiency and territorial resilience, the puzzle behind the idea of democratization of sufficiency, and a transversal area focused on pedagogical challenges.
