Skills/Qualifications

The researcher will be responsible for integrating diverse criteria—biological, social, economic, and equity-based—to determine which fossil fuels should remain unburnable to comply with the Paris Agreement and provide useful information to inform climate policies at different scales. The expert will coordinate outreach activities including scientific publications in high-impact journals or participation in international conferences and events related to the project.

Key duties include:

Evaluating available scientific data in coordination with thematic experts.
Producing actionable insights for governance and policy adaptation at multiple scales.
Coordinating the group’s participation in international events (e.g., UN Climate Conferences [COPs] and related forums).

Leading high-impact publications in top peer-reviewed scientific journals on the topic.

Project: Unextractable Zones: research and outreach project on the Atlas of unburnable carbon for fossil fuels phase-out.

We are seeking to hire a Postdoctoral Researcher to serve as an analyst and/or specialist in integrating scientific information for energy-sector governance, as part of the project. Beyond producing academic publications in top academic topic-related journals, we seek someone able to coordinate the participation of the team in international conferences and high impact events.
