The KIOS Research and Innovation Center of Excellence at the University of Cyprus announces two (2) Special Scientist for Research Research Associate/ Research Engineer) position, for full-time employment. The successful candidates will provide technical and research support on industrial research projects, that will involve developing intelligent energy management strategies for renewable energy sources, enhanced by novel machine learning algorithms, that will enable their optimum market participation. They will also contribute to developing a framework that shall optimize market participation for integrated PV-BESS towards revenue maximization, in turn leading to reduced levelized cost of storage (LCOS) and thereby promoting the widespread adoption of PV and storage solutions.

Who we are:
The KIOS Research and Innovation Center of Excellence is the largest research center at the University of Cyprus and in 2017 was upgraded to a European Research Center of Excellence through the KIOS CoE Teaming project. Currently, the Center employs more than 180 people who are supported by externally funded research and innovation projects. Job Details
The successful candidates are expected to:
• Develop optimization algorithms for managing battery storage and RES production.
• Implement machine learning algorithms for optimizing the market participation of integrated PV-BESS systems in the energy market.
• Apply mathematical programming, machine learning, and AI techniques for optimizing PV-BESS operations.
• Contribute to real-world pilot testing and validation of developed algorithms in collaboration with project partners.
• Participate in project meetings, technical reporting, and academic publications.
