ANNOUNCEMENT

The National Institute for Research and Development of Isotopic and Molecular Technologies Cluj-Napoca is organizing a selection competition for the position of Scientific Researcher ( Post -doc), in the field of Chemical Sciences, with a part-time contract (4 hours/day), for a fixed-term contract until November 30, 2026, within the research project entitled: Metal Complexes of Polycarboxylate Polymers: Synthesis and Characterization”, project code PN-IV-P2-2.1-TE-2023-0129, contract no. 94TE / 03.01.2025.


Description of the (temporary) vacant position: The selected candidate will be involved in scientific research activities in the field of materials chemistry, with a focus on the synthesis of coordination polymers. Responsibilities include the design and execution of synthesis reactions, as well as the characterization of the resulting compounds using spectrometric techniques and other relevant analytical methods. Additionally, the candidate will contribute to the interpretation of experimental data, preparation of scientific reports, and publication of results in peer-reviewed journals.


Specific conditions for the position of Scientific Researcher ( Post -doc):

  • Completed higher education with a PhD degree in the field of Chemical Science and experience as required by Law No. 183 of June 10, 2024, regarding the status of research, development, and innovation personnel;

  • Laboratory experience in organic and/or organometallic synthesis;
  • Strong knowledge of spectroscopy, including interpretation of nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectra, infrared (IR) spectra, mass spectra, and thermal analysis data (TGA, DSC);
  • Experience using compound characterization software tools such as MestreNova, Origin, ChemDraw, and SigmaPlot;
  • Scientific experience, including participation in at least three scientific conferences (national or international) as author or co-author, and at least three scientific articles published in indexed peer-reviewed journals;
  • Experience in research and development projects;
  • Participation in research internships or fellowships abroad is considered an advantage;
  • Intermediate-level foreign language skills, with English being mandatory; knowledge of other foreign languages is considered an advantage;


Contest procedure:

Document review (eliminatory): The candidate's application will be evaluated; missing documents or failure to meet any mandatory requirement will lead to exclusion from the contest. The results of the document review will be posted on the INCDTIM website, with the mention "admitted" or "rejected."

  • Written test (eliminatory). This will take place at INCDTIM's headquarters, lasting two hours, with topics related to the announced theme. Results will be posted on the INCDTIM website, with the mention "admitted" or "rejected." Candidates who score at least 7 (seven) in the written test will proceed to the oral test.
  • Oral test (eliminatory). This will take place at INCDTIM's headquarters and will involve presenting scientific activity. Candidates must score at least 7 (seven) in the oral test. Results will be posted on the INCDTIM website with the mention "admitted" or "rejected."

The results of the contest will be evaluated by each member of the commission with scores from 1 to 10. The final score is the average of the marks given by the committee members.

The competition commission evaluates candidates according to the provisions of Art. 15, paragraph (2) of HG 1264/16.12.2024 and Law 183/2024 regarding the Status of Research, Development, and Innovation Personnel.

General Requirements for Candidates:

- The candidate holds Romanian citizenship, or citizenship of another European Union Member State or of a country belonging to the European Economic Area, and has residency in Romania; Foreign nationals who do not hold Romanian citizenship, or the citizenship of an EU Member State, an EEA country, or the Swiss Confederation may apply only if they obtain prior approval from the Ministry of Education (MEC), in accordance with MEC Order No. 4523/2023, after the selection process has taken place;

- The candidate has full legal capacity;

- The candidate has a state of health appropriate for the position applied for;

- The candidate is medically fit;

- The candidate is available for part-time employment on a fixed-term contract.


The registration file must contain the documents provided for in Art. 21 and 23 of Law no. 183/2024 on the status of research, development, and innovation personnel, Art. 10 of Government Decree no. 1568/2024 for the approval of the Methodological Norms regarding the organization of competitions for filling vacant positions of research, development, and innovation personnel in research organizations, the INCDTIM Internal Regulations and the legislation in force, namely:

  • A signed application for the contest, accompanied by a self-declaration attesting to the truthfulness of the information presented in the registration file;
  • Proposal for the scientific career development, focusing on research activities, maximum 5 pages;
  • Curriculum Vitae adapted to the job requirements;
  • List of scientific publications, works, articles/studies, patents selected by the candidate based on relevance to their research activities;
  • Proof of professional research and development qualifications corresponding to the position;
  • Copy of the identity document or any other document proving the identity;
  • Copy of the marriage certificate or proof of name change, if applicable;
  • Medical certificate attesting to the candidate's health condition, issued within 3 months before the competition;
  • Copy of the documents attesting the candidate's studies: bachelor's and/or master's degree accompanied by the transcript;
  • Diplomas obtained abroad must be recognized by the National Center for Recognition and Equivalence of Diplomas (CNRED), and by the National Council for the Recognition of Titles, Diplomas, and University Certificates (CNATDCU), or proof of the recognition process in progress;
  • Certificate attesting to the quality of PhD student registered within an institution organizing doctoral studies in Romania for the positions of research assistant - PhD student;
  • Letter of intent (free format), indicating the research areas of interest and the motivation for occupying the position;
  • Declaration of consent for the processing of personal data, signed;
  • Certificate of Criminal Record.


The candidate undertakes to maintain confidentiality regarding the research topics in which he/she participates.
