The successful candidate will be employed for a period of 24 months and will receive a gross monthly salary of 11,600 PLN (~2,700 EUR), including taxes and mandatory employer and employee social security contributions. The research will be conducted at the Institute of Theoretical Physics, Faculty of Physics, University of Warsaw, as part of the project entitled “Designing the electronic properties of novel 2D layered crystals via alloy engineering for efficient photo-electro-chemical action” (OPUS, NCN).

Within this project, the candidate will carry out electronic structure calculations within the framework of Density Functional Theory (DFT) for two-dimensional materials. The project will focus on the theoretical investigation of such materials, with particular emphasis on alloy engineering of magnetic systems. Attention will be given to analyzing their electronic properties and understanding their influence on catalytic activity. The goal is to explore how transition metal dopants and local structural distortions affect key electronic parameters.

An integral part of the project will involve the development of machine learning models based on data generated from DFT calculations and Monte Carlo simulations. The project integrates advanced theoretical approaches—including DFT, Monte Carlo methods, and machine learning—to accurately tailor material properties. Theoretical predictions will be validated in collaboration with experimental teams, ensuring a comprehensive approach that combines numerical modeling with laboratory measurements.
