We are seeking a young scientist to join our team as a postdoctoral researcher on the project “Taming aggregation with AmyloGraph 2.0: database and predictive model of amyloid self-organization of modulators.” The project is part of the National Science Center Poland SONATA 19 contest (DEC-2023/51/D/NZ7/02847).

Project description:

Amyloids are proteins associated with several diseases, including Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson's disease, Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease, and type 2 diabetes. They are characterized by their ability to self-aggregate into distinct supramolecular fibrils. AmyloGraph, an amyloid interactions database developed by our team (https://amylograph.com/), is the largest source of information on modulators on amyloid self-aggregation that could be used to treat amyloid diseases or develop new nanomaterials. However, the influx of new experimental data prompted us to start the AmyloGraph 2.0 project, which will leverage machine learning-based tools to automatize finding new amyloid modulators in the scientific literature. Apart from creating the new version of AmyloGraph, gathered data will be used to train predictive models to design new chemical compounds inhibiting self-aggregation.


As a post-doc, you will manage the team of data curators who manually annotate the scientific literature and coordinate the efforts with machine learning experts. You are also expected to participate in designing and implementing AmyloGraph 2.0. More information about our team and the project may be found at https://biogenies.info/.
