Mission:

Develop original research work on Shannon's theory, within the framework of the European Research Council Advanced Grant “SCLIT”.

Functions to be developed:

ㆍDerive a general formula for channel capacity that includes arbitrary scaling, error probability analysis with random coding, and applications to specific channels such as the block-fading channel.

ㆍDerive concentration results for error probability decay with random coding and the derivation of concentration-based universal decoders.

ㆍDevelop fundamental limits on prior scaling and concentration with suboptimal mismatch decoding, the derivation of upper bounds on mismatch capacity, and the derivation of efficient code constructions and algorithms that approach the fundamental limits.

ㆍPrepare and organize international collaborations, organize seminars, welcome guests and research speakers, organize workshops and research visits.

Educational Requirements:

ㆍInformation theory

ㆍCommunication theory and/or channel coding

ㆍProbability and Statistics

Professional Experience:

ㆍHave researched in information theory, statistics, communication theory and/or channel coding.

ㆍHave publications of articles in international journals and conferences.

ㆍIn the organization of workshops or conferences.

ㆍExperience in functions similar to those described will be valued, specifically in the development of research activities, both in the university and industrial environment.

Benefits

€35,693.28 gross/annual (per full-time position)

Eligibility criteria

All the candidates who cannot prove the required academic degree will be immediately withdrawn from the selection process.

The CVs will be assessed according the following general criteria:

ㆍThe maximum score for the candidates who accomplish all the eligibility criteria stated in the job offer will be 10 points.

ㆍThreshold: 5 points.

ㆍThe maximum score (10 points) will be distributed as follows:

    º 1 point for required speciality

    º 2 points for required academic training

    º 2 points for technic competences

    º 1 point for organisational competences

    º 3 points for professional experience

    º 1 point for any aspect of the candidate’s professional profile to be determined as specially relevant by the Selection committee

If the selection committee decide to include a personal interview as additional step of the selection process, only the candidates scored 5 or above for their CV will be retained for the interview step.

The interview will be assessed according the following criteria:

ㆍMaximum scoring: 5 points

ㆍThreshold: 3 points

ㆍThe maximum score will be distributed according the following criteria:

    º 2 points for adequacy to functional competences of the job

    º 2 points for adequacy of professional experience

    º 1 point for any aspect of the candidate’s professional profile to be determined as especially relevant by the Selection committee

The eligible candidates will be ranked from highest to lowest score, being this the selection criteria.
