University of Wroclaw invites applications for the position of assistant professor at the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science

Period of employment: Employment contract for a maximum of four years or replacement employment contract for one year from 01.10.2025 to 30.09.2026.

The competition is open to each candidate who meets the requirements set out in the Higher Education and Science Act of July 20th 2018 (Journal of Laws of 2018, item 1668 as amended) and the Statute of University of Wroclaw.

Application requirements

1. Doctoral degree in Mathematics or Computer Science.
2. A very good scientific record in mathematics or computer science.
3. In case of extension of employment for the assistant professor’s position: the scientific activity after obtaining the PhD degree, indicating the perspectives for obtaining habilitation.
4. Activity in applying for grants will be highly assessed.
5. Fluency in English, at least B2 level.

Scope of Responsibilities

Research Area:

1. Conducting research.
2. Participating in scientific meetings.
3. Publishing scientific papers.
4. Actively participating in scientific conferences.
5. Applying for research grants.

Teaching Area:

1. Conducting classes.
2. Supervising bachelor's and master's theses.

Organizational Area:

1. Serving on university collegial bodies, including recruitment and examination committees.
2. Organizing and participating in university promotional events.

2. Curriculum Vitae.
3. Photocopy(s) of diploma(s) attesting to the award of a doctoral degree.
4. Statement of whether the University of Wroclaw will be the primary workplace in the event of winning the competition (download Workplace Statement).
5. Declaration regarding the scientific discipline in which the candidate will conduct research; in the case of persons conducting research in more than one discipline: percentual commitment in each of the disciplines (download Declaration of scientific discipline).
6. Self-presentation containing a description of the candidate’s scientific activity, level of internationalization, organizational activity and teaching activity.
7. A list of the candidate’s research works published in the last 10 years.
8. Electronic versions of the two most important publications that the candidate considers representative of his or her scientific achievements, or an explanation of the lack of them.
9. Application for employment addressed to His Magnificence the Rector.
10. Declaration in connection with Article 113 of the Higher Education and Science Act (download Declaration – Article 113).
11. At least two recommendation letters; from scholars with a post-doctoral degree or the professor title or, in the case of candidates from a country other than Poland, holding positions equivalent to a post-doctoral degree or the professor’s title, specializing in the field within the candidate area of interest or related thereto. The recommendation letters should be sent by e-mail directly to the Commission Chairman professor Dariusz Buraczewski at the following e-mail address: dziekan.wmi@uwr.edu.pl, and not be seen by the candidate. The letters are overt only to the Commission members while the candidates abandon the right of access to these letters.
