The director of CEITEC, Brno University of Technology, is opening a scientific and research position of:

Senior Researcher – Polymer nanocomposite metamaterials

Senior Researcher - Polymerní nanokompozity pro metamateriály

Advanced Polymers and Composites Research Group is looking for an experienced polymer materials scientist with a proven track record in nanocomposite preparation, characterization, theoretical modelling, and FGF printing and skills in using ML in analysis and design of FGF printed auxetic structures. Suitable candidates should have a Ph.D. in Polymer Materials Science, experience with electron microscopy and various structural analysis and thermomechanical techniques, mixing equipment operation, and preferably also experience in the preparation of functional nanocomposites.

Requirements

We are looking for a highly motivated senior researcher with a strong background in polymer chemistry, structural analysis, materials science and the use of AI in the analysis and design of novel nanocomposites with a prescribed set of properties.

Expectations:

• Proven track record of publishing in structure-property relationships in polymer nanocomposites.
• Metamaterials preparation and characterization techniques hands-on experience is a must.
• Skills in operating table-top FGF printers, including model design and slicing, are fundamental.
• Experience in using GNN ML tools and assembling a digitalized materials database is needed.
• Scale up skills and ability to communicate with the industry required.
• Ability to carry out research projects independently, interpret the data and write manuscripts.
• Excellent team working skills, self-motivation, initiative, and persistence.
• Ability to exploit CEITEC BUT core facilities and laboratories (nano.ceitec.cz).

• Act as a source of information and advice to other members of the group and Ph.D. students on scientific protocols and experimental techniques.
