IBMM is nationally and internationally recognized for its work in the different classes of essential biomolecules: lipids, sugars, nucleosides and oligonucleotides, peptides and proteins, prebiotic molecules and biopolymers. The grouping of research themes around major classes of biomolecules within the same Institute is unique in France, and even in Europe. IBMM displays its skills for integrated research, with the aim of understanding the mechanisms of life by designing molecules and systems useful for biology, medicine, and agriculture while developing green chemistry processes.

This project is part of the priority to develop new therapeutic approaches to fight bacterial resistance. Since the 1970s, the number of new antibiotics has drastically decreased, while bacterial resistance has continued to grow, seriously jeopardizing this major medical breakthrough. Faced with this critical threat, global awareness has led to the implementation of large-scale action plans initiated by private companies and governments. The WHO was the first to sound the alarm by establishing a priority list of pathogens to target, which was later adopted by the French National Research Agency (ANR) as a strategic priority.

In this context, the TROjAN project was selected by the ANR and proposes an alternative approach to fight bacterial resistance using small heterocyclic molecules. This project essentially involves the synthesis of nucleoside prodrugs through various pharmacomodulations. Preliminary stability and biological evaluations will be carried out in the laboratory before sending the compounds to our microbiologist collaborator.

The net monthly salary is between €2,215 and €2,395

The contract duration is 48 months
