IRCAN – Institute for Research on Cancer and Aging, Nice

The Institute for Research on Cancer and Aging, Nice (IRCAN) is a multidisciplinary research center within Université Côte d’Azur, dedicated to understanding the biological mechanisms linking cancer, aging, and inflammation. IRCAN brings together basic and translational research to bridge fundamental discoveries with clinical applications, with the ultimate goal of improving cancer prevention and therapy.

Laboratory

The Mechanisms of Inflammation and Cancer team, led by Dr. Jean Albrengues, investigates how inflammatory and stromal components of the tumor microenvironment contribute to cancer initiation, progression, metastasis, and resistance to therapy.
A central theme of the lab is to understand how aging-related processes and chronic inflammation shape the tumor ecosystem, influence cellular communication, and drive tumor evolution.

Missions

The recruited postdoctoral researcher will explore the interplay between aging, inflammation, and tumor biology, with the goal of identifying mechanisms by which inflammatory and age-associated microenvironmental cues regulate cancer development and therapeutic response.

This project aims to uncover how aging-associated changes in tissue homeostasis and immune regulation contribute to tumor progression, metastasis, and resistance to treatment.

The postdoctoral fellow will use in vivo mouse models, cellular and molecular biology techniques, and advanced imaging approaches routinely applied in the lab. The candidate will be encouraged to propose and develop innovative research directions aligned with the team’s interests.
