A call is open for 1 “Bolsa de Investigação” in the areas of electrical engineering or computer engineering for the R&D institution GECAD (GECAD–EEA/00760), SATCOMM Project (Ref: EAPA_0019/2022, co-financed by the INTERREG ATLANTIC AREA 2021-2027 Programme through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). The following conditions apply to this recruitment process:

2. REQUERIMENTS OF ADMISSION
Minimum required profile: Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or computer science, enrolled in a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Data Science, or a related field. Proficient writing and speaking in English. Good teamwork skills. Strong programming skills and experience developing artificial intelligence-based computational applications.
Preferred profile: Good teamwork skills and motivation to use computational applications, such as software and algorithms for optimizing microgrids/energy communities. Experience with programming languages.
If the qualification was conferred by a foreign higher education institution, it must be recognized by a Portuguese higher education institution, in accordance with the provisions of Article 25 of Decree-Law No. 66/2018, of August 16, which approves the legal framework for the recognition of academic degrees and diplomas of Higher Education,
awarded by foreign higher education institutions, and Article 4.2 e) of Decree-Law No. 60/2018, of August 3, and any formalities established therein must be complied with by the date of the contract.
3. DURATION
The scholarship will last 6 months, starting in October of 2025, and may be renewable for periods of 6 months, according to the project objectives and its budget, up to the limit established by law, to be carried out on an exclusive basis, in accordance with the regulations for advanced training of human resources of the Foundation for Science and Technology and ISEP.
4. OBJECTIVES OF ACTIVITIES / WORKPLAN
The work plan will be executed on an exclusive basis, in accordance with the Research Grant Regulations of the Foundation for Science and Technology, approved by Regulation No. 950/2019 and the Research Grant Regulations of ISEP.
The work plan will be integrated into the SATCOMM project and involves the following tasks:
• Design, adaptation, implementation and integration of applications or computational models, according to the needs of the project where the scholarship is inserted;
• Testing and validation of applications or models using realistic case studies, laboratory prototypes, and implementation in pilots, according to the needs of the project where the scholarship is included;
• Active participation in meetings within the scope of the scholarship, with the supervisor and team of the research group, and, if applicable, within the scope of the project in which the scholarship is included;
• Collaboration on scientific articles, project deliverables, or scientific reports;
• Preparation and delivery to the supervisor of the requested reports on the activities carried out within the scope of the scholarship, including the final activity report;
• Provision of all data, models, software source code, diagrams and figures used, prepared and developed within the scope of the scholarship, as well as the manuals necessary for their use.
5. APPLICABLE LEGISLATION AND REGULATION
Research Fellow Statute, approved by Law No. 40/2004 of August 18; Research Grant Regulation of the Foundation for Science and Technology, approved by Regulation No. 950/2019, published in the 2nd series - Part C, of the Official Gazette of December 16, 2019; ISEP Research Grant Regulation, Decree-Law No. 66/2018, published in the Official Gazette No. 157/2018, Series I of August 16, which approves the legal regime for the recognition of academic degrees and higher education diplomas awarded by foreign higher education institutions and Decree-Law No. 60/2018 of August 3, which simplifies the administrative procedures necessary for carrying out research and development activities, all in their current versions.
6. SCIENTIFIC SUPERVISION AND WORKPLACE
The work will be developed at ISEP, located at Rua Dr. António Bernardino de Almeida, 431, 4200-072 Porto – Portugal, in the facilities used by the projects in which the work is framed, under the scientific guidance of Professors Sérgio Ramos and João Soares.
7. MONTHLY MAINTENANCE ALLOWANCE
Monthly grant amount: €1,040.98 paid by bank transfer (according to the FCT fee table: https://www.fct.pt/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Tabela_valores_SMM_2025.p…), supported through PADs no. 69666.
8. METHODS OF SELECTION AND COMPOSITION
The selection process will consider the candidate's merit, classified according to their suitability for the conditions of this competition, analyzed through the following components:
• Curriculum Vitae and Document Analysis (60%);
• Interview and Motivation Analysis (40%).
The interview will be conducted with all admitted candidates and may be conducted in English upon request.
The selection panel will be composed of:
• Professor Sérgio Filipe Carvalho Ramos, (President);
• Doctor João André Pinto Soares, (Member);
• Doctor Tayenne Dias de Lima, (Member);
• and as an alternate member, Doctor Fernando Lezama Cruzvillasante, (Alternate Member).
9. FORM OF SUBMISSION OF APPLICATIONS
Applications must be submitted by email to jan@isep.ipp.pt, with confirmation sent to scr@isep.ipp.pt and tdl@isep.ipp.pt, and include the following documents:
a) Cover Letter;
b) Detailed Curriculum Vitae, including address, telephone number, and email address;
c) Copy of civil, tax, and, where applicable, social security identification document(s);
d) Document proving country of residence, residence permit, or other legally equivalent document, if applicable, valid on the scholarship start date. This condition will only be verified during the scholarship contracting phase;
e) Proof of enrollment and registration in a Master engineering program or in a non-degree-granting course integrated into the pedagogical project of a higher education institution, developed in association or cooperation with one or more R&D units; f) Declaration by the candidate listing the conclusion and execution of research initiation grant contracts, past research from which he/she benefited, which must include the type of grant and the respective start and end dates;
g) Scientific or technical documents of which the candidate is the author and which allow for the evaluation of the candidate's previous activities and results relevant to the respective application;
h) Other documents that the candidate deems relevant;
i) Proof of enrollment in study cycles leading to an academic degree must be submitted before the scholarship is awarded.
10. DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION OF APPLICATIONS
Applications will be accepted between 14-27 October 2025
11. FORM OF PUBLICATION/NOTIFICATION OF RESULTS
The evaluation results will be published via email, to the email address indicated in the registration process.
12. COMPLAINT AND APPEAL PROCEDURES
If the result is unfavorable, candidates have a period of 10 working days, after the publication of the results of the evaluation of applications, to express their opinion, if they wish, in a prior hearing of interested parties, under the terms provided for in the Code of Administrative Procedure.
The final decision referred to in the previous paragraphs may be appealed to the President of ISEP within 15 working days after the respective notification.
13. SELECTION RESERVATION
ISEP reserves the right to appeal to candidates not selected, in order of classification, to hire a scholarship holder within the scope of the same project due to the withdrawal of the initially selected candidate.
