The work within the project Development of One-pot Multienzymatic Cascade Systems for Sustainable Synthesis of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients will concern in particular: the designing and conducting of synthesis of active pharmaceutical ingredients via biocatalytic approach; optimization of the process conditions with emphasis on reduction in use of organic solvents; controlling the conditions of the process and its efficiency; chromatographic analysis of the products of enzymatic conversion.

The candidate's responsibilities will include:

- Planning and conducting of experiments within the project;

- Collecting and drawing conclusions from the obtained data to plan further experiments;

- Analysing and compiling the obtained research results; participating in the preparation of publication manuscripts and graphical presentation of the results; supporting the project manager in the preparation of project reports and publications;

- Participation in the promotion of the project results by preparing the obtained research results for presentation at scientific meetings/conferences, and presentation of the obtained results in English and/or Polish;

- Participation in the organization of laboratory operations;

- Assistance to less experienced members of the project team in other research conducted in the group;

- participation in supervising the work of students/ doctoral students to gain experience in mentoring less experienced colleagues.

Skills/Qualifications

1. 1. Ph.D. degree in chemical technology, chemical engineering, environmental engineering, biotechnology, or related fields.

2. 2. At least 4 years of experience working in an experimental laboratory, preferably in biotechnology and/or bioprocesses and/or analytical laboratory.

3. 3. Proven scientific achievements in the topics of organic synthesis and analysis of the products of chemical reactions (at least 2 scientific articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals as co-author, preferably as the first author).

4. 4. Knowledge and experience in the conduct of reaction of chemical synthesis, design and optimization of chemical synthesis processes, experience in analysis (preferably using HPLC technique) of the products of chemical synthesis and the use of enzymes as catalysts for chemical synthesis. Experience in preparing of samples for analysis will be an added advantage.

5. 5. Predisposition to conduct scientific experimental work.

6. 6. At least very good oral and written English skills (B2 level or equivalent, certified), ability to read, understand, and write in scientific English.

7. 7. Knowledge and ability to operate computer software.

Eligibility criteria:

The competition is open to persons who meet the requirements set forth in Article 113, 116(2)(3) of the Polish Law of July 20, 2018. Law on Higher Education and Science, and under § 76 (3) of the PUT Statute, meet the following eligibility criteria:

• - have at least a doctoral degree;
• - have relevant scientific achievements;
• - take an active part in scientific life.

Qualification and project criteria:

• - Obtaining a doctoral degree no earlier than 7 years before January 1, 2026.
• - Obtaining a doctoral degree in an entity other than Poznan University of Technology.
• - Within the last two years before employment in the project, no employment under a contract of employment in the entity where the research project will be carried out (PUT).
• - During the period of drawing a salary within the framework of this project, the person employed within the framework of this project will not draw any other remuneration from funds allocated as direct costs from research projects financed within the framework of the Polish National Science Centre competitions;
• - During the period of drawing remuneration within the framework of this project, a person employed within the framework of this project will not draw remuneration from another employer based on an employment contract, including an employer based outside the territory of Poland.

Selection process

The first stage of the competition procedure is the formal verification of the submitted documents. Offers that pass formal verification are subject to substantive evaluation during which a recruitment interview may be conducted (directly or via electronic communication channels), by prior arrangement with the Candidate.

When selecting Candidates, Poznan University of Technology is guided by the principles contained in the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers.

The competition may not be resolved due to a lack of candidates meeting the requirements.

Poznan University of Technology does not provide accommodation during the term of the contract.
