The person hired for position of Assistant Professor will, in particular, have in the scope of their duties:
• • to carry out scientific work in the area of scientific interest of the laboratory, with particular emphasis on understanding the molecular mechanisms of the response of bacteria H. pylori, C. jejuni, and A. butzleri to environmental conditions (adaptation, stress response).
• • planning, conducting, and analysing the results of studies in the scope described in point 1, both in vitro and in vivo, including high-throughput studies (transcriptomic, ChIP-seq, proteomic)
• • dissemination of research results (presentations, publications, popularisation of science)
• • applying for external funding for research
• • mentoring junior research staff, students, and trainees
• • caring for one's own scientific and professional development and the development of the laboratory (e.g., further education, learning new research techniques, and their implementation in the laboratory)
• • participation in work related to the operation of the laboratory

Specific Requirements

REQUIREMENTS FOR CANDIDATES

Formal and substantive requirements to be met by the applicant (according to § 4 (3k) and § 4 (4) of the Regulations on the Conduct of Recruitment Processes for Scientific Positions at the Ludwik Hirszfeld Institute of Immunology and Experimental Therapy, Polish Academy of Sciences)
A candidate applying for the advertised scientific position should demonstrate motivation for scientific work, ability to work in a team, self-reliance, responsibility, and commitment to the planned tasks.

In particular, the candidate should:

• 1. hold a doctoral degree in science, in a discipline of biological sciences, or a related field/discipline
• 2. have at least 4 years of scientific work experience in a laboratory with a similar research theme (microbiology and molecular biology),
• 3. have knowledge and experience in planning and conducting scientific research in microbiology, molecular biology, genetic modifications of bacteria, genotypic and phenotypic analyses of bacteria, and high-throughput analyses (transcriptomics, ChIP-seq, proteomics);
• 4. have basic skills in bioinformatics analyses of high-throughput data (transcriptomics, ChIP-seq, proteomics);
• 5. demonstrate active participation in scientific life, documented by presenting research results in scientific publications. These should include at least three publications with impact factor (IF), published within 5 years before applying to the competition, and at least two original publications in which the Candidate is the leading author (first/equivalent to the first author). The Candidate's contribution to the creation of the work should be presented descriptively.
• 6. document active participation in scientific projects
• 7. provide evidence of leadership in a scientific project (principal investigator) or scholarship in which externally funded research is/was conducted, with the period of the research/scholarship should be no shorter than 12 months
• 8. demonstrate participation in the mentoring of junior researchers;
• 9. provide evidence of completed scientific traineeships, including at least 1 internship abroad;
• 10. be proficient in written and spoken English
