Company Description
• FCiências.ID - Associação para a Investigação e Desenvolvimento de Ciências announces an international call for the recruitment of a Scientific Researcher with a PhD degree, in the category of Initial Stage Researcher.  
• The position is within the project DYNAMICTRIO: Feedback between population dynamics and evolution of interactions in a tri-trophic system (Ref. HORIZON-ERC-STG-101042392), financed by the European Union’s Horizon Europe research & innovation programme.  
• The contract will be an indefinite duration fixed-term employment contract, on an exclusive regime, according to the Portuguese Labour Code and Decree-Law No. 57/2016, as amended.

Job Description (Work Plan)
• Develop mathematical models to describe changes in population size of predator-prey-plant systems.  
• Develop fitness landscapes models for the tri-trophic system.  
• Publish results in peer-reviewed scientific journals and other means.  
• The work plan is included in aim 4 of the project DYNAMICTRIO.

Qualifications (Admission Requirements)
• Hold a doctoral degree in Biology or similar areas (granted at least 3 years ago).  
• Demonstrated scientific/professional experience in mathematical modelling and forward genetic simulations using SLIM.  
• Experience in experimental evolution and/or genomic and/or phenotypic assays.  
• Experience in performing statistical analyses, and manuscript and grant writing.  
• Demonstrated previous experience in Evolutionary Biology.  
• Degrees obtained abroad require Portuguese Recognition under Decree-Law nr. 66/2018.

Preferential Requirements
• Proficiency in English (written and spoken).


Place of Work
• Research Center cE3c – Centre for Ecology, Evolution and Environmental Changes, Campo Grande, Lisboa, Portugal.

Contract Duration
• Full-time indefinite duration fixed-term contract, exclusive regime.  
• Expected start: January 2026.  
• Expected duration: 12 months, including a 30-day trial period.

Benefits
• Gross monthly salary: 2,622 Euros (exclusive regime), step 2 level 38.  
• Includes legal discounts, holiday and Christmas allowances, and food allowance.

Evaluation of Applications
• Failure to meet Admission Requirements results in non-admission.  
• Evaluation considers scientific and curricular achievements from the last 5 years.  
• Final classification scale: 0–100%.  
• Evaluation criteria:  
  a) Scientific publications – 30%  
  b) Motivation letter – 35%  
  c) Participation in relevant scientific projects – 30%  
  d) Pedagogical/extension/outreach activities – 5%  
  e) Interview, if necessary – 10%  
• Possible interview of the 2 best-ranked candidates.  
• Jury decisions by roll-call vote; minutes will be recorded.  
• Candidates notified by email.
